Price

Location
Just like buying a home one of the prime factors is location, location, location.
It stands to reason that if the target audience for your web site is the UK that you have your web site hosted in the UK. No matter how good the network connectivity to the rest of the world (and that is very important - see below) the closer the site is to the target audience the better. All of our Hosting UK servers are located within major data centres in the UK.
Network
Network speed is dependant on connectivity and capacity. The location of your web site is important but equally important is howe well it is connected to the internet. It simply is not enough to have a single supplier of bandwidth feeding your web site - if that supplier has a problem then your web site is inaccessible.
Multiple connections must operate independently of each other with network traffic able to choose the best route in and out of the network depending on the location of the person browsing the web site.
The Hosting UK network at it's core is comprised of multiple high speed links to Tier 1 and 2 carriers and also peering connections at major peering points. With a fully autonomous and BGP routed network speed of connectivity and provider independence and resilience are assured.
Server Hardware
You could run a web site on a desktop computer, and it may well work OK but to get real performance it needs to run on server hardware, preferably from a main brand supplier who can provide a full support service.
Servers differ from desktop computers because servers are designed to operate at high loads for extended periods of time, which in a hosting environment is 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The hardware components are all designed to work together optimally to provide the best performance possible.
At Hosting UK we originally used SuperMicro servers and now only use Dell - two of the most respected server manufacturers around. All our servers are chosen for their ability to perform in the most demanding environments backed by solid manufacturer support contracts.
Control
When you want to manage your web site you don't want to be raise a support request every time you want to make a change. You should be able to quickly and easily manage all aspect of your web site.
Our control panel provides the ability to manage every aspect of your site from setting file permissions to creating databases and installing web applications from our extensive application library and much more.
Support
Sometimes you just need a little assistance. You need to know that when you need help somebody will be there to provide you with help and advice no matter what your skill level.

Experience
Hosting UK started in business in September 1998 and has been providing hosting across the world ever since. Back in those days the internet community was pretty small by today's standards and the average customer was somebody with a technical background most likely male.
Times have changed and while technology has leapt forward and hosting has in many ways become more complex, our customers now encompass young, old, male, female, technical, non technical, individual, small business or major corporation.
We've evolved and grown over time as has our experience. When you host your web site or server with Hosting UK you can be assured that you're using a hosting company that understands what you need and importantly how to deliver it.

Great people are the lifeblood of any business and we're pleased to say we have some of the best. Collectively we imagine we're a pretty disparate looking bunch of individuals but we make a up a great team.

A lot of business make a great deal of their "colleague culture" and invest a great deal of marketing budget into developing it. We didn't do that, and we're not sure we've managed to put a name on it just yet.
